What is the Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix?
The Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix is a series of running events that are staged at various locations across the State of Tennessee. The top ten runners in each of fifteen age groups in these events accrue points that are used to determine the top ten runners in their particular age group within the Grand Prix Circuit. The purpose of the series is to encourage runners to visit new locations and compete against their age group peers from across the state.

What are the age groups?
The sixteen age groups that are used for the Grand Prix Series are: 10 and under, 11 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, 75 to 79, and 80 and above.
These are the age groups that will be recognized by the Grand Prix Series irregardless of the age groups recognized by a participating event.
-
How will I access my points accrued during the Grand Prix Series and what time frame is used to determine age group winners?
We will tabulate the points accrued from each participating event and post the standing for each individual who has accrued points in their age group on the Series website at www.tngrandprix.com. The entire results for each participating event will also be posted on this website.
The Grand Prix Series will run from August 1 of each year to July 31 of the following year. Prizes to the top ten winners in each age group for the previous season will be awarded in August.
-
What will be the locations of the events within the Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix series?
Our goal is to have an equal number of events from each grand division of the state of Tennessee: west, middle and east.
Obviously, we have more contact with the events in the eastern part of the state since that is where we are located. We will actively solicit events from across the state. We would envision developing the series from east to middle and finally to west as the series grows.
-
How are points awarded for the events?
Points are awarded to the top ten finishers in each age group. First place gets 10 points, second place gets 9 points, etc, to tenth place gets 1 point.
There is a multiplier applied based on the length of the race. Events up to and including 6.2 miles (10K) will be points earned times 1. Events above 6.2 miles and up to and including 13.1 miles (half marathon) will be points earned times 2. Events above 13.1 miles will be points earned times 3.

Why is the age group listing different on the TRS site and the Grand Prix? Site
The TRS site posts the age groups as defined by the particular event. The age groups may not be the same as the age groups recognized by the grand prix. For example, the grand prix age groups go to 80+ years while some events may cut off the age groups at 75+. Also the TRS site will show the overall winners such as masters, grandmasters, etc as removed from the age groups. The grand prix site lists age groups with the overall winners included since the grand prix points are based purely on age group finish times.
-
Do I need to register with the grand prix in order to accumulate points?
When you register with a participating event in the grand prix series, you are automatically included in the grand prix points standing if you finish in the top ten finishers in your age group.
-
How do I know if an event is part of the grand prix series?
Each participating event will be flagged on the TRS site and be listed on the grand prix site. Each participating event will also have the grand prix logo on their entry form.
